QUICK TAKE:
Comedy/Horror: Various staff members of an island resort try to figure out who's killing them.
PLOT:
Coconut Pete (BILL PAXTON) is a washed up former rock star who runs the Pleasure Island resort on Costa Rica. His goal is for him and his young partygoers such as Penelope (JORDAN LADD) to have a good time and encourages his staff to make sure that happens. Among them is Sam (ERIK STOLHANSKE) captain of the "fun police," sexy aerobics instructor Jenny (BRITTANY DANIEL) and new masseur Lars (KEVIN HEFFERNAN) who has a magical touch with his hands.

Then there's the standoffish tennis instructor, Putman (JAY CHANDRASEKHAR), dive master Juan (STEVE LEMME) and Pete's own nephew, Dave (PAUL SOTER), among a group of others. Everyone's ready to please the new guests, but when someone or something starts killing the staff members according to the lyrics found in one of Pete's old songs, he, security man Hank (MC GAINEY) and the surviving staffers try to figure out the killer's identity, all while eyeing each other as suspects.

    HOW OTHERS RATED THIS MOVIE

Curious if this title is entertaining, any good, and/or has any artistic merit?
Then read OUR TAKE of this film.

(Note: The "Our Take" review of this title examines the film's artistic merits and does not take into account any of the possibly objectionable material listed below).

    OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
The following is a quick look at the content found in this R-rated comedy. Profanity consists of at least 45 "f" words, while plenty of other expletives and colorful phrases are also uttered. Sexually related dialogue, innuendo and humor (including facial touches leading to orgasms, talk of bestiality and the sight of a dildo and an ancient figurine with an erect phallus) are present, as are several sexual encounters with related sounds, movement, nudity and implied oral sex.

Nonsexual nudity (bare breasts, butts and male full frontal, sans penises) also occurs, while various young women are seen in revealing attire throughout the film. Violence includes a masked killer murdering various people (mostly presented in spoof mode, but with a great deal of bloody and gory results). It's possible that some of that material and other standard horror film moments will be unsettling or suspenseful to some viewers. Various characters have varying degrees of bad attitudes.

Some characters smoke, a great deal drink, and various ones use drugs, while alcohol and drug related comments and song lyrics are heard. Other imitative behavior is present. Should you still be concerned about the film's appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home, you may want to look more closely at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

For those concerned with bright flashes of light on the screen, there are some flashing lights from strobes in one scene.

  • A guy purposefully and disrespectfully breaks an old headstone (played for laughs). Later, he does the same to a head from a stone statue.
  • A guy tells another (who's not gay), "Don't be gay." Another gay-related comment is made later in the film.

  • SEX/NUDITY
  • There are many scenes featuring scantily clad young women (in small bikinis and other cleavage and skin revealing attire) through the film.
  • A young woman removes her shirt and shows cleavage in her bikini top. The guy with her tells her to lick his chest and she does. They decide to go elsewhere to fool around and he chooses an ancient graveyard in the jungle. The guy then mocks what a dead guy would say, "You should give it to her" (meaning sexual).
  • A young woman brings drinks to the above couple and there are indications about a three-some. One of the women then picks up an ancient small statue that shows a figure with a large, erect penis and jokingly tells the guy that the two women now no longer need him. The two women then playfully and jokingly kiss each other to taunt him. The women's tops then come off and we see their bare breasts. After choosing heads or tails, one of the women apparently performs oral sex on him (below the camera shot), while the other suggestively licks his ear. When she says she hears something, the guy jokingly asks if it's a strange sucking sound (referring to the other woman). The guy then tells one something about that it's not like he's asking her to "eat my crack."
  • We hear lyrics from a song about a shot of tequila and that Pleasure Island is "where I'd like to feel you."
  • A guy makes the male masturbation gesture at a concert.
  • Jenny makes a comment about guys trying to hump a gorilla costume she has.
  • Two guys ogle various young women in bikinis and similarly revealing attire. They also make sexually related comments (among themselves) such as "Wanna get nailed" and other innuendo.
  • A sexual comment is made about assault with a "deadly wet one." Another is about "foxes and c*cks" (the later pronounced coxes) and "c*cks and quarters." A person refers to the later as "hide the sausage."
  • Juan grabs Penelope's clothed breast to read her name tag.
  • When Penelope says that she goes to Oral Roberts, Juan jokes if that's anything like "Anal Johnson" and then says something about what sounded like "Dirty Sanchez."
  • We see the lower halves of a couple having sex in a large hot tub that has glass sides. We see the sides of their bare butts and related movement.
  • Pete sings a song with sexual slang, including something about a ponytail will "get you tail."
  • When Jenny tells Lars that some women are just tighter than others (in a nonsexual context), he takes it in a sexual context and reflexively spits out whatever he's drinking. As she walks away, she purposefully moves/wiggles her butt in her small shorts.
  • A camp staffer tells a typical campfire horror story about some previous staffer or guest who was having sex with a woman (there's talking of putting the screw to her and keeps "banging away") until he realized he was having sex with a corpse. The storyteller then goes on to say that the guy then cut off his own "d*ck" and since then roams the island crying out, "Where's my penis?" Both he and Putman then drop their pants, joking that they're that person. Both have their penises tucked between their legs, making it look like they're missing (we see their pubic hair).
  • Pete jokingly says, "Wanna get laid tonight? I know I did." He then tells his staff to have sex with the guests on the island.
  • From a long distance, we see what looks like a completely nude guy doing a cliff dive into the sea.
  • During a montage, we see a camp game where guys have balloons tied to their clothed butts and clothed women then come up and try to pop those balloons with their clothed pelvic thrusts.
  • A person hears sexual sounds, opens a door and sees Juan having rear entry sex with a woman while both stand and are in large costumes. While we don't see any nudity, we see thrusting movement and hear more related sounds.
  • Lars causes Jenny to become aroused and/or orgasm while simply touching her face. She then says that maybe she should take him home with her.
  • While searching through the partygoers' belongings for clues or weapons, Lars says he can't wrap his fingers around the thought of all of this. Jenny then pulls out a large dildo and jokingly asks if he can wrap them around that.
  • Penelope throws Juan to the beach, and then straddles and repeatedly kisses him there. She then says that he was earlier supposed to be in the above maze, but was "eating watermelon" (a reference to the above costumed sex).
  • A comment is made that the only thing found in the camp search was pornography and a bunch of condoms.
  • We see some of Pete's old and suggestive album covers, including one where he's resting in a hammock that's hanging between a woman's legs (representing her lowered panties), while another shows a scantly clad woman.
  • We see Juan standing in a very small swimsuit.
  • Penelope tells Juan that calamari is an aphrodisiac (as she stuffs a lot into his mouth). She then suggestively says that she wants to wrap her little tentacles around him. Moments later, we see her in her bra and panties (or similar bikini outfit) on top of Juan in bed, kissing down his chest (while other staffers hide in the closet, thinking she might be the killer). Juan comments on their "first time" (meaning sex), she does some gymnastics moves and removes her top, showing her bare breasts (of which we see many views, including when she straddles him). The three in the closet then hear sexual sounds and we then see a rear view of her having sex on top of him. We see her bare back and movement (her hips and his body are blocked by the sheets) and hear additional sexual sounds, including them climaxing. When she then leaves for a moment, Juan jokingly says (about seeing if she's the killer) that he needs to "pound her" for a few more hours. Jenny (who's in the closet and not happy to have witnessed that) asks how he'd feel if she were out there and he playfully says that's a good idea.
  • Putman has a nightmare where he sees another version of himself kiss him.
  • We see a streaker's bare butt as he runs by.
  • A guy is in the pool with Jenny, starts to say that he's young, dumb and "full of..." (but doesn't finish the "cum" part) and then acts as if something scary is touching his leg. He then says that it's "just my gigantic c*ck" and asks her if she wants to "get it on." Nothing else sexual happens.
  • A person accuses Jenny of having sex with a guy and now he's dead (implying she's the killer). She then says that she "screwed" two other guys there who are still alive.
  • When others hear that Juan was in prison, one guy comments on "hard core anal action." Juan then admits that the reason he was imprisoned was for having sex with a goat. He then says that he lived on a farm and got lonely. Moments later, another guy asks, "What sort of man has sex with a goat" and Juan says that he used a condom. Jenny then acts shocked and says that he told her they were against his religion (implying they had sex as well).
  • Dave talks about his uncle Pete and asks the others how many knew that Pete was uncircumcised.
  • As Lars and Jenny hide under her bed, Lars finds some of her sex toy paraphernalia, including some handcuffs. Putman then calls her, "You Piccadilly whore,"
  • We see that Putman has taken a pair of Jenny's panties.
  • Lars does his orgasmic, masseur touch to the killer, telling others to leave as "it's going to get messy."
  • A guy picks up a girl over his shoulder and pats her clothed butt.
  • We see a somewhat distant crowd shot of many nude or partially nude partygoers running about (bare breasts and butts and possible full nudity).
  • A dying guy says that his one last wish is to see two young woman kiss (that doesn't happen).
  • Jenny and Lars each touch orgasmic spots on the other's face to give them an orgasm.
  • SMOKING
  • A few people briefly smoke (1 with a cigar).
  • TENSE FAMILY SCENES
  • We hear that a guy's parents were trampled to death at one of Pete's previous concerts.
  • TOPICS TO TALK ABOUT
  • Spring break type locales.
  • Heavy drinking.
  • Casual sex.
  • VIOLENCE
  • A guy purposefully and disrespectfully breaks an old headstone (played for laughs). Later, he does the same to a head from a stone statue.
  • The killer slices a guy and the victim's blood splatters onto the two young women with him (we also see the bloody cut line on his body). The two women then run through the jungle with the killer pursuing them. One ends up on the edge of a seaside cliff, nearly falling off it. She reaches out for something and accidentally grabs the machete blade, with her hand running the length of it (with bloody results) before she falls off the cliff (to her presumed death). The killer then catches the other woman and decapitates her (we see her point of view of her head spinning around and landing on the ground and then seeing her body that twitches - but we don't see the head or the wound).
  • A bouncer throws a guy back into the crowd (from a stage).
  • An anonymous figure with a machete chases a costumed character through an outdoor maze. He slices that person and we see blood come out from his pear costume that then becomes soaked with his blood.

  • The killer holds a machete to a staffer's throat.
  • The killer tries to strangle a girl beneath the water in a large hot tub with glass sides. A staffer then takes an ax and hits the glass, eventually breaking it and sending a large amount of water sweeping him, the killer and the girl across the room.
  • A staffer stabs a machete all of the way through the killer's body.
  • The killer struggles with and hits two women on a boat. A guy then hits the killer with a non-operating boat propeller. The two struggle and the killer tries to strangle that guy who repeatedly punches the killer in the body. A woman then hits the killer who pushes her backwards.
  • The survivors drive a boat around a floating dock and repeatedly wrap a rope tighter around the killer's body against that dock. The killer grabs one of those survivors when they come in closer for a look, but they then go around the dock again, eventually causing the rope to cut the body in half (we see the lower part sink below the surface with bloody/gory results).
  • The top half of the killer's severed body grabs a survivor. Another grabs it and swings that top half around, throwing it back into the sea. We then see the lower half of the body on the surface of the water, kicking along.
