QUICK TAKE:
Drama: Two criminal "contractors" find themselves drawn to each other while holding an autistic young man hostage for their crime figure boss.
PLOT:
Larry Gigli (BEN AFFLECK) is a "contractor" who works for a local criminal, Louis (LENNY VENITO). His latest assignment is to kidnap an autistic young man, Brian (JUSTIN BARTHA), from his group home. That's because Louis' criminal associate, Starkman (AL PACINO), is under investigation by a federal prosecutor whose brother just so happens to be Brian, and Louis figures the hostage situation might make the feds back off.

Thus, Larry convinces Brian to come with him and they head back to his place where they run into Ricki (JENNIFER LOPEZ). She states that Louis has hired her to make sure Larry does his job and soon the two are babysitting Brian who's obsessed with going to the beach to see the stars of "Baywatch."

Since Ricki is so alluring, Larry tries to hit on her, but quickly learns that she's a lesbian. That doesn't deter him, however, from continuing to pursue and trying to convince her to have sex with him. As their repartee proceeds, they eventually grow fond of Brian, thus potentially endangering their employment and lives, as they must then deal with both Louis and Starkman.

WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?

(Note: The "Our Take" review of this title examines the film's artistic merits and does not take into account any of the possibly objectionable material listed below).

    OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
Here's a brief summary of the content found in this R-rated drama. Profanity consists of at least 123 "f" words, while other expletives and many colorful phrases are used. Sexually explicit dialogue (about body parts, intercourse, lesbianism and oral sex, etc.) is present in several scenes (occasionally with some suggestive body positioning), while a couple appears to have sex onscreen (mostly clothed, but with movement and passionate kissing). Various women are seen in small/revealing bikinis.

Various characters have varying degrees of bad attitudes, including one who murders another and others who kidnap an autistic young man (some of whom use disparaging terms about his condition). A woman attempts to commit suicide by slitting her wrists (seen with blood) while a person cuts off a corpse's thumb (no blood, but potentially disturbing).

Should you still be concerned about the film's appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home, you may want to look more closely at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

    ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE
  • Louis has what looks like a drink.
  • BLOOD/GORE
  • A woman takes a large kitchen knife and slits her wrists (seen), with resultant blood flow (she lives).
  • We see bodies in body bags in morgues where Larry goes to cut off a corpse's thumb (to be used in place of Brian's). We see him starting to saw at the thumb with a scalpel and then hear the rest of the sawing sound (there's no blood).
  • A man takes a gun another man was wearing and waves it around as he discusses an issue. He then shoots that other man in the forehead, killing him (with bloody results as we see blood run down the dead man's face from the hole as well as blood splatter on the front of an aquarium and some sort of bloody human tissue floating in the aquarium that a fish eats).
  • DISRESPECTFUL/BAD ATTITUDE
  • Larry and Ricki are "contractors" who work for criminal boss Louis. They end up kidnapping Brian for him.
  • Louis is some sort of criminal with a perturbed, bad attitude who orders the kidnapping and more.
  • Starkman is a criminal of some sort who murders a man.

  • Brian sings lyrics from the Sir Mix-A-Lot song "Baby Got Back" (about big rear ends on women and the singer's aroused reaction to them, including the line, "I like big butts").
  • PROFANITY
  • At least 123 "f" words (2 used sexually as are the terms "do you" and "making it"), 14 "s" words, 2 slang terms using male genitals ("d*ck" and "c*ck"), 1 for female genitals ("p*ssy"), 7 asses (1 used with "hole"), 1 hell, 13 uses of "Oh my God," 2 of "God" and 1 use each of "G-damn" and "Jesus Christ."
  • SEX/NUDITY
  • Ricki shows cleavage in her midriff-revealing top.
  • While talking to himself in the mirror but acting as if he's talking to Ricki, Larry says, "Wanna see the horn?" (after earlier telling her, "F*ck with the bull, get the horn").
  • Larry and Ricki share a bed (he's shirtless), but she tells him he's not her type. When he asks what's wrong with him, she responds, "Your penis." She then informs him that she's a lesbian. She then mockingly says that if she wasn't gay, she get under the covers and "do you."
  • Brian says, "That's where the sex is" when referring to Baywatch.
  • A drawing of a woman shows cleavage.

  • We see Ricki in a sports bra (that shows cleavage) and small and tight shorts as she exercises and does various stretches (some of them sexually suggestive considering the context of the following discussion). Larry says he doesn't want to be dipping into the sisterhood (referring to her being a lesbian) and Ricki jokingly says that the problem with men is that they "give terrible head." Larry then says that it takes a man to satisfy a woman (biologically) and comments on the sexual appliances women use to compensate for what they want and don't have. There's then talk of the penis going into the dark, deep and mysterious unknown. Ricki then sarcastically asks if men are on the top of the "must f*ck pyramid." She then goes talking about the female body and its various parts, and then compares the penis to a bizarre sea slug or a long toe. She adds that it's not at the top of her erotic destinations. She then adds that kissing is what's important and then asks Larry what the mouth is the twin sister of. She then replies for him, saying "the vagina" and mentions the secret mystery between a woman's legs "that I call my p*ssy." As she says all of this, she's in various exercise/sexual positions on the floor, such as on her back with her legs spread.
  • When wanting to speak to Ricki, Louis tells Larry, "Put the clam-licker on."
  • We see Ricki's bare back through the glass shower door as she showers.
  • Ricki's former lover has a bad attitude toward Larry (thinking Ricki is with him now). She then tells the other two, "We can all f*ck, we can all have sex" and then tells Larry, "You know you want it."
  • Not happy with Larry's answer of "sure" for "yes," Ricki thinks that his answer would be a definite yes if she said she'd "suck your c*ck for twelve hours" and whether that would give him great pleasure.
  • Ricki asks Larry if he's gay (based on how he looks at his fingernails).
  • Larry and Ricki passionately kiss on a bed and she grabs his clothed nipple, prompting him to tell her she needs a woman. She responds, "I thought you wanted to be my bitch." She then says that it's "turkey time" and adds, "Gobble, gobble" as she swings her thighs open and shut while lying back. She continues, "Lay some of that sweet hetero-lingus on me" (oral sex). He then has performance doubts, saying that women know what women want and thus as a man he should be given a handicap like in golf. They then do more passionate kissing with him on top of her (mostly in head and shoulders shots). They then alternate who's on top (with her bare leg up along his body when he is) and she removes his shirt while she is. We then see various shots of sexual movement with her on top (still in a robe), and then them in bed afterwards where he states, "God bless you penis" (repeating a line Brian said earlier).
  • When Larry says he has a fantasy (nonsexual), Ricki jokingly wonders if it's "making it" with a guy.

  • A woman takes a large kitchen knife and slits her wrists (seen), with resultant blood flow (she lives).
