QUICK TAKE:
Suspense/Thriller: A man wakes up on a Chicago-bound train, only to discover he's in another man's body and is repeatedly being sent back into the past to try to find the bomber and his explosive that blows up the train every time.
PLOT:
Colter Stevens (JAKE GYLLENHAAL) is a U.S. helicopter pilot operating in Afghanistan, and thus he's thrown for a loop when he wakes up on a commuter train bound for Chicago and in the body of schoolteacher Sean no less.

Another commuter, Christina Warren (MICHELLE MONAGHAN), seems to know him quite well, which only confuses him even more. As he tries to figure out what's happened, a large explosion engulfs that train and a passing one, resulting in Colter suddenly ending up in a strange pod from which he can't escape.

Upon being contacted by Carol Goodwin (VERA FARMIGA) via a video interface, he learns he's been assigned to a program where he's repeatedly being sent back in time into the last eight minutes of a victim's memory before the explosion to find both the bomb and bomber.

With little guidance from Goodwin or her boss, Walter Rutledge (JEFFREY WRIGHT), Colter is transported back onto the train time and again, only to have the same result of him and everyone else perishing in the explosion. But with each return trip, he gathers more evidence and races against the clock each time to accomplish his goal and save everyone else, including and particularly Christina.

WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
They might if they're into sci-fi flicks and/or are fans of anyone in the cast.
WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: PG-13
For some violence including disturbing images, and for language.
