PLOT: It's Christmas Eve and Angela Bridges (RACHEL NICHOLS) is a businesswoman in Manhattan who's late to leave to visit her sister and family in New Jersey. When she gets down to the P2 level of the parking garage, she discovers that her car won't start. The friendly garage security guard, Thomas (WES BENTLEY), offers to help, but when he can't jump her car, she opts to take a cab to her sister's place. Unfortunately for her, the upstairs lobby is locked and she can't exit to the waiting cab, and thus goes in search of Thomas to let her out. He ends up kidnapping her, however, and his actions show that he's obsessed with her and has been watching Angela for some time. From that point on, and as he shows his violent side toward her coworker who he's also kidnapped, Angela does what she can to try to stay alive and hopefully escape from the locked parking garage. WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT? If they're into suspenseful flicks, they might. WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R For strong violence/gore, terror and language. CAST AS ROLE MODELS: RACHEL NICHOLS plays an overworked businesswoman who finds herself trapped in the parking garage below her building where Thomas kidnaps her. Confused and terrified, she tries whatever she can to avoid him and escape from her dire predicament. She uses strong profanity, and it's implied she might have slept with a coworker for a promotion. WES BENTLEY plays the parking garage security guard who kidnaps Angela after being obsessed with her for some time. He claims he won't hurt her, but does kill her coworker in a brutal fashion, roughs her up some, and even sics his guard dog on her. He also uses strong profanity. OUR WORD TO PARENTS: The following is a brief summary of the content found in this R-rated thriller. Profanity consists of at least 19 "f" words, while other expletives and colorful phrases are uttered. Brief, but explicit, sexually related dialogue is present, as is a woman's abundant cleavage in a low-cut dress. Video footage shows a man's hand caressing various parts of that woman's clothed body while she's unconscious. Violence consists of several murders (some seen on screen) and the wounding of others, with most of that quite graphic in nature, with very bloody/gory results. Those scenes and the film's overall cat and mouse structure might be unsettling and/or suspenseful for viewers, especially younger ones and those with low tolerance levels for such material. Bad attitudes are obviously present, as are thematic elements including that of obsession and stalking. Some alcohol is present, and some of the abduction and/or violent behavior might be enticing for some troubled kids to imitate. For those prone to visually induced motion sickness, varying amounts of camera movement are present in the film, including some handheld footage. ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE Angela's coworker feels bad about what happened earlier (which we see later in the film, and a flashback, where he drunkenly comes on to her in an elevator), saying he had too many drinks. We see a bottle of wine on the table in an office, presumably from an earlier holiday party. We see that Thomas has a bottle of wine on the table for him and Angela, and then he pours some for both of them, but we don't see any consumption of that. While driving Angela around the parking garage, Thomas jokes that he had too much wine (when he hasn't). BLOOD/GORE Angela vomits, and we then see Thomas cleaning that up off the floor. After Angela stabs Thomas in the shoulder with a fork, we see some blood on his shirt from that. Thomas strikes a man repeatedly on the face with a flashlight (with the man's face being very bloody, and some blood being on Thomas' shirt and face). Thomas then gets into his car and smashes the man into a wall, and does this three times, with each subsequent impact bloodier than the preceding one (with the last impact presumably killing the man and spraying lots of blood on the windshield). Angela pulls her broken fingernail from her finger, with bloody results. Angela's leg is very bloody from where a dog has just bitten her, and as she wounds and then kills that dog, that act has very bloody results on the dog and on her. Thomas is bloody after Angela stabs something into his eye. DISRESPECTFUL/BAD ATTITUDE Angela's coworker feels bad about what happened earlier (which we see later in the film, and a flashback, where he drunkenly comes on to her in an elevator), saying he had too many drinks. Thomas obviously has a bad attitude for stalking and kidnapping Angela, as well as killing one of her coworkers. Angela is a little bit disrespectful toward Thomas when he invites her to join him for a holiday meal. FRIGHTENING SCENES Scenes listed under "Violence," "Blood/Gore" and "Jump Scenes" may be unsettling, suspenseful or scary to younger viewers and/or those with low tolerance levels for such material. Angela finds herself trapped and alone in an underground parking garage where her car won't start. The lights then go off in the garage, leaving her mostly in the dark. She then tries to walk around using the meager light from her cell phone, but ends up tripping over something and falling hard to the pavement. In the dimly lit garage, we suddenly see Thomas behind Angela. He then grabs her, they struggle, and she's eventually rendered unconscious. Angela discovers that she is chained to a table in Thomas' office. Thomas makes Angela call her sister's home where her family is waiting for her arrival, to say that she won't be able to make it. To ensure that she doesn't let them know what is happening to her, Thomas places his hands around her neck as she makes the call. Thomas drives Angela (whose hands are cuffed behind her) to a lower level in the parking garage where she sees that Thomas has one of her coworkers bound and gagged in an office chair. This is the man who earlier came on to Angela in an elevator, and Thomas wants her to show that man that she is not a "slut," adding that the man tried to rape her. Thomas then gets out of the car, walks up to the man, and raises his large flashlight as if he's going to strike him. Angela protests, and Thomas stops, but then proceeds to strike that man repeatedly on the face with that flashlight (with the man's face being very bloody, and some blood being on Thomas' shirt and face). Thomas then gets back in the car, backs up, and then drives toward the injured man as if he is going to run him over. He stops just short of him, however, and then proceeds to push the man in the rolling chair across the pavement in the garage. Reaching a wall, Thomas backs up and then smashes the man into that wall, and does this three times, with each subsequent impact bloodier than the preceding one (with the last impact presumably killing the man and spraying lots of blood on the windshield). Angela escapes from Thomas' car and runs off with her hands still cuffed behind her back. Angela runs back into Thomas' office only to have the chained guard dog bark and lunge at her again. She then tries to retrieve her bag while avoiding that dog, but ends up in a brief tug-of-war with it over her bag. Angela retrieves her cell phone but can't get any coverage signal, so she tries placing it as far as possible through a steel gate. She accidentally drops the phone, and then struggles to try to reach it, but it is just a few inches too far away. When she hears Thomas approaching, she panics as her cuffed hands are stuck in that gate, but when Thomas walks up she is gone. Angela tries to hide as Thomas hunts for her in the garage. Angela holes up in an elevator, prompting Thomas to drop a fire hose down onto the top of the elevator car. He then turns on the water which starts to flood into and fill up the car with Angela standing in the freezing water. The electrical system starts to short out and the ceiling then collapses, pouring both water and a dead man into the car with her. The elevator door that opens with the water carrying her and that body out and slamming them against a wall. Angela tries hiding under a parked vehicle in the garage, with Thomas then flattening two of the vehicle's tires, resulting in that vehicle lowering down quite close to her. Angela awakens to find herself locked in a trunk, and she tries to get out, especially when she hears a car pass by. She then races after it, but is too late as the security gate is dropping down. She then sees Thomas holding his security guard dog and she runs off, with Thomas then unleashing that dog to chase after her. She then smashes a car window to get inside and tries to hide there, but the dog finds her. It then comes through the broken window at her and she tries to beat it off with a tire iron, but the dog bites down hard into her leg. She then stabs the sharp end of the tire iron into the dog, killing it, with very bloody results. The dog then suddenly comes to again and tries to attack her once more, but she pushes the tire iron further into the dog, this time killing it for good. Wounded, Angela tries to elude Thomas who is hunting for her. Angela tries to escape in a car, but Thomas rams that vehicle with another. She then takes off in her damaged car and tries to elude him as he hunts for her in his. Spoiler Alert: Angela and Thomas have a face-off in their cars that are aimed at each other. They then race toward each other, with Thomas veering off at the last second. Angela, however, loses control of her car, smashes into a pole, flips over, and has a bad crash. Thomas then gets out, and walks up to her, finding her seemingly unconscious with her head on the steering wheel. When he leans her back, she suddenly stabs something into his eye, and then proceeds to strangle him with the handcuffs that are still around her wrists. As she walks away, we see that he is cuffed to the car that is leaking gasoline. After he says one last disparaging thing to her, she uses the tazer to ignite the fuel that then burns back to the car, engulfing it and him in flames. GUNS/WEAPONS Angela turns and Thomas is there, zapping her with a tazer, stunning her. He then zaps her again when he sees that the police have arrived. She later uses that to ignite some gasoline. JUMP SCENES As the camera moves in close to a parked car in the garage, the lock suddenly pops out and the trunk opens in a hurry, showing a woman's leg and her cuffed hands. Angela turns the corner and suddenly runs into a security guard. A security guard dog suddenly barks and lunges at Angela. In the dimly lit garage, we suddenly see Thomas behind Angela. Angela runs back into Thomas' office only to have the chained guard dog bark and lunge at her again. When the elevator door opens, Angela suddenly sees Thomas on the other side of another door. The ceiling of an elevator suddenly collapses and a great deal of water as well as a dead body drop into the car. Angela turns and Thomas is there, zapping her with a tazer, stunning her. Trying to escape, Angela starts a car and its radio is on very loud, resulting in sudden loud noise. Angela tries to escape in a car, but Thomas rams that vehicle with another. MUSIC (SCARY/TENSE) An extreme amount of ominous and suspenseful music plays in the film. MUSIC (INAPPROPRIATE) None. PROFANITY At least 19 "f" words (2 used sexually, 1 used with "mother"), 12 "s" words, 1 slang term using female genitals ("c*nt"), 3 asses (all used with "hole"), 3 damns, 3 hells, 4 uses of "Oh my God," 3 of "Jesus," 2 of "God" and 1 use each of "My God" and "Oh God." SEX/NUDITY Angela awakens to find herself in a party dress that isn't hers and that shows a great deal of cleavage (seen throughout the rest of the movie). She then realizes that Thomas changed her into the dress while she was unconscious, and thus saw her nude (which we don't see). We see videotape playback footage of Angela's male coworker drunkenly coming on to her in an elevator. Thomas drives Angela (whose hands are cuffed behind her) to a lower level in the parking garage where she sees that Thomas has one of her coworkers bound and gagged in an office chair. This is the man who earlier came on to Angela in an elevator, and Thomas wants her to show that man that she is not a "slut," adding that the man tried to rape her. Thomas then ask Angela, "Did you f*ck him to get a promotion?" Her crying and lack of verbal response could lead some to think she did, and others to think she didn't. Later, Thomas uses the "f" word in a sexual manner again. After Thomas floods her elevator car with water, we see Angela in the same dress as before, but it is now wet and clingy (and still shows a great deal of cleavage). Angela sees videotape playback footage of Thomas putting lipstick on her while she's unconscious, as well as running his hand over her cleavage, and then partially up her leg and then over her mouth. As two cops look around the garage for signs of a disturbance, one of them asks Thomas if he has anyone coming over "for a little action." SMOKING None. TENSE FAMILY SCENES Angela cries as she calls her mom to say she won't be joining them on Christmas Eve (due to Thomas having abducted her, and currently having his hands around her throat to prevent her from telling her mom about what's really occurring). TOPICS TO TALK ABOUT Obsession and stalkers. Having someone escort you to your car if you're alone and the parking area is mostly deserted. Keeping one's wits while dealing with traumatic matters. The storytelling mechanics of a thriller film. VIOLENCE Angela trips over something in the dark and falls hard to the pavement. In the dimly lit garage, we suddenly see Thomas behind Angela. He then grabs her, they struggle, and she's eventually rendered unconscious. As Thomas goes to unshackle her, Angela stabs a fork down into his shoulder. She then tries to get away but he tackles her, and cuffs her hands behind her. Thomas drives Angela (whose hands are cuffed behind her) to a lower level in the parking garage where she sees that Thomas has one of her coworkers bound and gagged in an office chair. Thomas then gets out of the car, walks up to the man, and raises his large flashlight as if he's going to strike him. Angela protests, and Thomas stops, but then proceeds to strike that man repeatedly on the face with that flashlight (with the man's face being very bloody, and some blood being on Thomas' shirt and face). Angela breaks some glass to retrieve a fire ax that she then uses to smash various surveillance cameras. She later uses that to smash a TV. Angela turns and Thomas is there, zapping her with a tazer, stunning her. He then zaps her again when he sees that the police have arrived. Angela smashes a car window to get inside and tries to hide there, but Thomas' guard dog finds her. It then comes through the broken window at her and she tries to beat it off with a tire iron, but the dog bites down hard into her leg.
