PLOT: In this sequel to the 2002 film based on the MTV stunt show, Johnny Knoxville, and his band of daredevil performers including Steve-O, Jason "Wee Man" Acuna, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Chris Pontius and others perform a variety of extreme stunts and other gags. WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT? If they're fans of the first film, the original MTV series, or want to be like the "cool kids" who've seen it, they probably will. WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R For extremely crude and dangerous stunts throughout, sexual content, nudity and language. CAST AS ROLE MODELS: Considering what occurs in the film (performing dangerous, dumb and/or gross stunts, profanity, public nudity and more), it's highly unlikely any parents would consider anyone who appears in the film to be a good role model for kids. CAST, CREW, & TECHNICAL INFO HOW OTHERS RATED THIS MOVIE Curious if this title is entertaining, any good, and/or has any artistic merit? Then read OUR TAKE of this film. OUR WORD TO PARENTS: Here's a brief summary of the content found in this R-rated comedy. Profanity consists of at least 135 "f" words, while plenty of other expletives and colorful phrases are also uttered. Sexually related dialogue and brief song lyrics are present, as is all sorts of sexually related humor (including but not limited to collecting semen from a horse's erect penis, a man having a phallus blasted up to his bare butt, etc.). Various men are seen fully nude (frontal and rear) as are some women (breasts and butts) , while a man's covered penis is put through a hole into a snake cage, while a man dressed as an old woman keeps exposing old, bare breasts to bystanders. Various instances of crude humor are also present (drinking horse semen, eating dried horse dung, the sight of fresh human excrement, many views of graphic vomiting, etc.). All of that stems from various stunts, gags and other material that might be quite enticing for some kids to imitate (despite warnings at the beginning and end of the film not to do so). Some of those stunts might be unsettling or suspenseful to some viewers (based on phobias or just common sense), while various people have bad attitudes for their actions and/or the pranks they pull. Some people drink or smoke (including a boy in a skit), while various people are hurt (and sometimes bloodied quite a bit, including from bad anaconda bites) in trying to pull off various stunts. Others simply hit other people for laughs, and a gun (real or fake) is used during one such gag. For those prone to visually induced motion sickness, some handheld and point of view footage is present. ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE One guy holds a beer. Johnny (dressed like an old man) does a bad grandpa skit with a boy who drinks from a brown paper bag in public. A guy chases down some dried horse dung (that he's eaten) with a lot of beer. Wee Man carries a beer during a stunt. To show how heavy a medicine ball is, one guy slams one down onto a beer can, crushing it. Bam has a beer. A miscellaneous comedian talks of lots of drinking. BLOOD/GORE All of the following is played for laughs. One guy tries to "ride" (hold onto) a dangling fire hose that's blasting out water at full force, eventually flipping him off and he lands hard enough on the ground to cut his butt (we see some blood on his bare but very muddy butt cheek) and someone jokes about them achieving rectal bleeding. We see an infected looking branding on Bam's bare butt some time after the actual branding. Steve-O pushes a large fish hook through the inside of his mouth and out through the skin in his cheek (seen in graphic detail, and then again when it's taken out - all as part of him being used as human bait for sharks). Johnny (dressed like an old man) does a bad grandpa skit and tells a man, "Go crawl back in your momma's ass." There's some talk about one of the guys having to go to the bathroom (something about a "diarrhea machine") but that doesn't play out as the skit is hijacked by another (involving bees poured into a locked limo). One guy escapes, strips down to his grey underwear and then comments on having "pissed myself" (and we see a wet spot in the front of that underwear). One of the guys says he'll eat "horsesh*t" and we see him pick up and then place dried horse dung into his mouth. He nearly vomits from that, prompting someone else to do so (seen in full detail). Johnny and two others subject themselves to a security device (an anti-riot landmine or something like that) that blasts out many small, but hard balls with extreme force that knock the three to the floor and leave many deep welts in their skin. We see a shot of a bathroom and the toilet in it, and then realize it's just a miniature as a large piece of fresh human excrement drops down onto that prop (and then see the man squatting above it with a clear plastic tube beneath him to insure his "aim"). We see a stunt called the "butt chug" where one guy in just small briefs lies on his back, inserts a tube into his rear end (not completely seen) and then has beer poured into a funnel into that tube. We then see the level of that beer eventually go down (meaning it's going inside him) until it's all gone. He then gets up and tries to squirt that back onto those laughing at him (and we see a short stream shoot out, prompting one guy to joke that he's peeing like a girl). Someone then gets the idea to use a plunger and they then use that on him (and it works, all of the beer coming spewing out). A huge anaconda repeatedly bites Johnny on the arm, drawing a lot of blood (in a stunt where he tries to capture it). A person jokingly points out seeing pubic hair and poop on some ice following a stunt involving that. A guy vomits after seeing another guy drink fresh horse semen. Steve-O allows a live leech to be put near his eye until it finally grabs hold and won't let go (seen in graphic, close-up detail). A skit involves Steve-O with a glass helmet over his head (the "fart mask") attached to a tube that goes to a funnel held by an obese man who then squats and farts into it. Steve-O then gags and graphically vomits into that glass helmet, with the other man then showing that he actually defecated into the funnel (we see the excrement). Body powder is applied to a man's bare butt that he then positions near a sleeping person, waiting until they wake up to fart in their face (thus blowing powder out at them). Ringing a doorbell causes an inflatable bag to erupt from a wall and hit a person quite hard in the face, dazing him and slightly bloodying his nose. A person jokes about there being some "crap" in a bunch of shaved pubic hair (after one guy shaved his butt for that). We then see that and other pubic hair being applied to a man's face as a beard (he doesn't know that's what it is), with some getting into his mouth (and he even comments on it being like "pubes" in his mouth). Later, there's talk of crabs in some of that hair and another guy then vomits from that. We see a guy who's just had some of his teeth knocked out in a stunt. We see more vomiting. After crashing through some glass, Steve-O's leg is very bloody. DISRESPECTFUL/BAD ATTITUDE All of the following is played for laughs. Various guys suddenly strike others for laughs, or otherwise cause them potential injury in the name of humor (such as slamming a garage door so that a guy traveling at high speed in a grocery cart slams into it rather than pass through). Johnny (dressed like an old man) does a bad grandpa skit with a boy who drinks from a brown paper bag in public, smokes and acts belligerently (including cussing) toward those who try to intervene. Johnny (still in character) does the same toward one man who also has a bad attitude back toward him. Some viewers might not like a skit where a guy dressed like the devil pops up out of a construction hole in a sidewalk and holds a sign that reads "Keep God out of California." Body powder is applied to a man's bare butt that he then positions near a sleeping person, waiting until they wake up to fart in their face (thus blowing powder out at them). A skit has Bam substituting another obese man in place of his father in his parents' bed. When the switch is made in the middle of the night (the wife sleeps through this), we see both men in their underwear, and the substitute is told not to be afraid to get frisky with the mom. We then see night-vision views of him cuddling up with her, her waking and telling him to buzz off, and then him continuing until she realizes it's someone else. After the lights are on, the guys laugh and joke about it feeling fatter and her saying it felt shorter (she's presumably talking about total body size while they're implying genitals). One also jokingly asks her if she's been with another man and she's embarrassed. Some viewers might not like a scene where one of the guys dresses up like an Arab (clothing and fake beard), speaks like one, straps on fake explosives to his chest and then gets into a cab, wanting to go to the airport (but the joke's really on him as the other guys hire an actor to play the irate taxi driver who hits, kicks and pulls a gun on the prankster). FRIGHTENING SCENES Scenes listed under "Violence" and/or "Blood/Gore" may be unsettling to viewers with low tolerance levels for such material. For those afraid of snakes, several stunts include different varieties: One involves a man's covered penis being put through a hole into a container holding a snake that then lashes out and grabs hold of that body part. Another features Johnny and others in one of those carnival type booths holding lots of plastic or rubber balls trying to catch a very large anaconda (and getting bit -- quite badly -- in the process, while the lower half of the snake starting wrapping around another person), with other close calls and then the sight of another large snake they forget in there. Finally, another scene features one guy who's terrified of snakes and is then purposefully trapped in a trailer with a cobra (that he does not know is defanged). He panics and manages to get out, only to have the laughing guys thrust the snake at him (including up on top of a trailer where he thinks he's safe). The same holds true for scenes featuring bulls (chasing the men down a street, one ramming into Johnny, and one coming after four guys bouncing up and down on huge teeter-totters and then trying to flee, with some getting hit, etc.). Some large sharks swim around Steve-O while he's in the water with a large fishing hook through his cheek. He accidentally kicks one away, while we see one swim right at the camera with its mouth open (and bite the camera -- seen from its POV). Steve-O allows a live leech to be put near his eye until it finally grabs hold and won't let go (seen in graphic, close-up detail). GUNS/WEAPONS As part of a skit, an actor pulls a gun (we don't know if it's real or fake) on one of the pranksters who's getting double-crossed in the gag. Later, the guys clap blocks of wood together to emulate sounds of real gunfire. IMITATIVE BEHAVIOR Due to crowd noise as well as several instances of rapid-fire delivery, the following counts should be considered a bare minimum. Phrases: "What the f*ck /is that/was that/happened?" All of the stunts, practical jokes and more (pretty much the entire movie) may be enticing for some kids to try to imitate. Some, but not all are listed below (others are in other categories, and some may be too elaborate for kids to pull off) Many of the guys have all sorts of tattoos all over their bodies. All of the following is played for laughs. A puppet show stunt has one man's covered penis (in something resembling a sock puppet) sticking through a hole in the wall with a string around that. Johnny holds the other end of that string to try to entice a small snake to strike. Various guys read a sign on the wall (with ever-shrinking print size) that's seemingly from someone writing to them, stating that they "hooked up" with the person's sister four years ago. The purpose of the small print, however, is so that their face is close to the wall where a mechanized, high-pressure boxing glove springs out and punches them in the face. Several people then get this treatment. One guy tries to "ride" (hold onto) a dangling fire hose that's blasting out water at full force. A big guy in his underwear chases after Wee Man (also in just his underwear) who turns the corner and then returns with a bunch of small people (all men, similarly dressed) who then chase the big man. Johnny tries to do a stunt on one of those old-fashioned bikes (huge wheel in the front, small one in the back), but when he hits a snow bank, he flips off and over it, landing hard on the otherwise dry parking lot surface (seemingly hurting himself). We see various attempts by various guys to drive a miniature motorcycle through a very small and tight ramp, resulting in all sorts of hard-hitting wipeouts and such. We see Bam's bare butt as another guy uses a blowtorch to heat up a branding iron. He then pushes it against Bam's flesh (we hear the sizzle), but has to do so several times, resulting in three brandings of a penis and scrotum outline (resulting in jokes about a "d*ck farm" and such). A guy on a bike and a guy in a wheelchair are shot far off a dock (via compressed air). Steve-O pushes a large fish hook through the inside of his mouth and out through the skin in his cheek (seen in graphic detail, and then again when it's taken out - all as part of him being used as human bait for sharks). A guy goes up a small ramp and lands on the side of a truck that passes by (apparently sticking to it via Velcro). We later see others do the same thing. Johnny goes into a rodeo ring, dons a blindfold and then a large ox flips him over with its head and horns (quite hard). Wee Man does a bungee jump off a bridge while another guy holds the other end, but the force pulls him over and both land in the water below. One guy skis down snow dumped on some interior steps, crashing through the front door at the bottom. Some of the guys set up others in a limo where the doors are locked from the outside and bees are dumped into it, causing those inside to be stung, panic and try to get out (including repeatedly kicking a window). A person on the outside then places many marbles (or something similar) just below one of the limo doors, opens it, and then watches as most everyone scrambles out and slips on those marbles, landing hard on the parking lot surface. One of the guys jumps down onto a rake lying flat on the ground, causing the handle to pop up and whack him in the face. One of the guys says he'll eat "horsesh*t" and we see him pick up and then place dried horse dung into his mouth. He nearly vomits from that, prompting someone else to do so (seen in full detail). We see Wee Man's full rear and frontal nudity as he walks through an office meeting (including across a table). The guys play dodge ball with large and heavy medicine balls, slamming them into each other in a small room (to which they do a little damage in the process). To show how heavy a medicine ball is, one guy slams one down onto a beer can, crushing it. Various guys try to skate, bike and such down various ramps, all while others try to hit them with huge and heavy bags swinging on ropes. Accordingly, many are knocked down or aside quite hard. The guys shoot off a cart with a rocket. As a joke, Wee Man hits Johnny hard in the crotch, followed by Johnny doing that back to him. A person rides a skateboard down a small ramp into some Plexiglas. A stunt has a guy removing his pants to see if his scrotum will freeze to some small ice sculptures in the cold. Water is applied to that, he squats over the small horses, and we see that his scrotum is indeed stuck to the ice (with Johnny then suddenly pushing him off as he slowly tries to pull away from the ice). With an open parachute behind him, Wee Man is blasted off a boat via a huge fan into some water and adjacent trees. During a karate segment, a hard blow goes through a held board and hits the other guy in the face. We see this stunt again, but this time the first guy kicks the holder in the crotch. Two guys race down a steep hill inside huge tractor tires. Steve-O allows a live leech to be put near his eye until it finally grabs hold and won't let go (seen in graphic, close-up detail). Body powder is applied to a man's bare butt that he then positions near a sleeping person, waiting until they wake up to fart in their face (thus blowing powder out at them). Johnny rides a large rocket up into the air and then falls back into a lake. Johnny gives "the finger" back to the other guys. Johnny purposefully lets a large animal trap snap shut onto his arm (someone later does the same thing). JUMP SCENES None. MUSIC (SCARY/TENSE) None. MUSIC (INAPPROPRIATE) Some songs had lyrics that we couldn't fully hear and/or understand (thus presenting the possibility of them potentially containing objectionable material), but we did hear the following: At least 8 "f" words, 1 "s" word and other profanity, while one song repeats the line, "Johnny are you queer?" Another has sexually related lyrics such as "sucking on my t*tties" and suggestive uses of presumed double entendres such as "peaches," while we also hear slight sexual female moaning in that song. The purpose of the small print, however, is so that their face is close to the wall where a mechanized, high-pressure boxing glove springs out and punches them in the face. After that occurs, the guy walks off saying he's a "slut." A stunt that's repeated several times has filmmaker Spike Jonze dressed up like an old woman who ends up exposing her fake, droopy breasts (the gag being "she" doesn't know it, but everyone else does and reacts accordingly). There's a joke (about a skit) regarding one guy losing his virginity, but that guy says it wasn't to a dude. We see Bam's bare butt as another guy uses a blowtorch to heat up a branding iron. He then pushes it against Bam's flesh (we hear the sizzle), but has to do so several times, resulting in three brandings of a penis and scrotum outline (resulting in jokes about a "d*ck farm" and such). Bam's father then jokes that the branding should have been bigger as it's embarrassing. We see Wee Man's bare butt during a stunt that even includes a playing card being stuck into his butt crack. We see Wee Man's full rear and frontal nudity as he walks through an office meeting (including across a table). One guy jokes that if Johnny goes through with a serious stunt, he'll French kiss him (Johnny does, but the man doesn't). Director John Waters says he's going to do a magic trick and make Wee Man (who's lying on a bed) disappear. An extremely obese woman then comes and jumps on him (thus making him disappear from our sight). We see her bare butt as well as bare breasts. This skit is repeated later, but this time with an extremely obese man who jumps and lands on Wee Man in the same bed (we see that man's bare butt and scrotum from behind). He then laughs and pulls down Wee Man's shorts and then races off, followed by Wee Man (and we see his bare butt). We see a guy's bare butt during a stunt involving beer going into his butt. A stunt has a guy removing his pants to see if his scrotum will freeze to some small ice sculptures in the cold. Water is applied to that, he squats over the small horses, and we see that his scrotum is indeed stuck to the ice (with Johnny then suddenly pushing him off as he slowly tries to pull away from the ice). There's a skit about how to milk a horse, and it's explained that a stallion will be brought out to mate with a mare, but will then have its penis stuck into a fake horse vagina. We see the semen in the jar and one guy jokes about drinking it and then does so (with a small black box appearing on the screen covering that act), commenting, "Yep, that's semen." As a guy tries to get out of a large tractor tire, another squats down and places his bare butt on or near the first guy's face. We see the side of an obese man's bare butt during a skit. A several-minute skit is of "old man balls" where Johnny dresses up like an old man and has a fake, and exaggeratedly long scrotum that hangs down out of his shorts (seen by many people in various positions, while one bit has a dog trying to bite that from behind). A skit has Bam substituting another obese man in place of his father in his parents' bed. We see one of the guys in just a thong, dancing and prancing about (we see most of his bare butt and the bulge in the front). There's a reference to "horse cum" (regarding a scene above). We see one guy who's fully nude but holds his hand over his crotch. Women (or men dressed as women) might flash their bare breasts in the background of a musical number (seen very briefly, and in dim lighting). We see a guy's full frontal nudity. A song has sexually related lyrics such as "sucking on my t*tties" and suggestive uses of presumed double entendres such as "peaches," while we also hear slight sexual female moaning in that song. SMOKING Johnny smokes once (as part of a skit), while a boy smokes in another skit. TENSE FAMILY SCENES None. TOPICS TO TALK ABOUT Kids trying to imitate the stunts and gags that occur in the film, or making up ones of their own. Why it's equally fascinating and repulsive to watch masochistic behavior that's played for laughs. VIOLENCE All of the following is played for laughs. We see Johnny and his pals running (first in slow motion, then regular speed) from a bunch of stampeding bulls in some average neighborhood. They start down the street (where one bull rips off a car door opened in front of it), but then move onto the lawns and even into homes. During this, one guy runs through and/or is blasted through a fence, another tries to hide in a trash can that a bull runs over, another runs over Wee Man, and then Johnny and another guy separately jump through windows (inside out, breaking the glass), with a bull smashing into Johnny just as he makes that leap. The guys play dodge ball with large and heavy medicine balls, slamming them into each other in a small room (to which they do a little damage in the process). A guy closes a large garage door just as another is being propelled out of a warehouse at high speed in a grocery cart (causing him to slam into the door very hard). Various guys try to skate, bike and such down various ramps, all while others try to hit them with huge and heavy bags swinging on ropes. Accordingly, many are knocked down or aside quite hard. Johnny and three other guys ride two large teeter-totters in a rodeo stadium where a bull is let loose and tries to hit the various men when their end is down close to the ground. One guy flees and the bull gets him quite hard on the ground, followed by it trying to get the others on the teeter-totter, including Johnny who similarly gets roughed up by the bull. A huge anaconda repeatedly bites Johnny on the arm, drawing a lot of blood (in a stunt where he tries to capture it). As a joke, Wee Man hits Johnny hard in the crotch, followed by Johnny doing that back to him. A person rides a skateboard down a small ramp into some Plexiglas. During a karate segment, a hard blow goes through a held board and hits the other guy in the face. We see this stunt again, but this time the first guy kicks the holder in the crotch. Two people in costumes on roller skates purposefully collide (hard) in a roller rink. Ringing a doorbell causes an inflatable bag to erupt from a wall and hit a person quite hard in the face, dazing him and slightly bloodying his nose. During a skit designed to double-back on a prankster, an actor playing a cabbie starts hitting on the prankster in the backseat, pulls a gun on him and then hits and kicks him outside the cab before forcing him into the trunk (with the rest of the guys then faking sounds of other violence, including gunshots using blocks of wood clapped together). Johnny purposefully lets a large animal trap snap shut onto his arm (someone later does the same thing). During a big, Broadway musical type number featuring all of the guys, various people fall or crash into things, including Wee Man and another who come down a ramp and smash into stacks of barrels. We also see guys washed away by a fire hose, two yanked away by a horse (via ropes tied around them), and a large bull ramming into Johnny quite hard. Much more contact occurs, and we see one guy who's just had some of his teeth knocked out. After crashing through some glass, Steve-O's leg is very bloody.
