QUICK TAKE:
Action/Adventure: A hired assassin decides not to kill her latest targets but rather save them from supernatural ninjas.
PLOT:
Having been resurrected from death by her blind sensei, Stick (TERENCE STAMP), but then kicked out by him due to her inability to control her rage, Elektra (JENNIFER GARNER) has become a contract killer who takes hit jobs arranged by her agent, McCabe (COLIN CUNNINGHAM). Her latest assignment is to kill Mark Miller (GORAN VISNJIC) and his 13-year-old daughter Abby (KIRSTEN PROUT) who are on the run from an evil syndicate known as "The Hand" and headed by Roshi (CARY-HIROYUKI TAGAWA).

That group is after a treasure that's related to those targets, but just as Elektra is about to kill them, she has second thoughts, partly due to troubling memories of her own mother's death. Accordingly, she kills some supernatural ninjas sent by Roshi and then goes on the run with Mark and Abby, asking for help from both McCabe and Stick.

Roshi thus sends his ninja son, Kirigi (WILL YUN LEE), who -- with his minions Typhoid (NATASSIA MALTHE), Stone (BOB SAPP), Tattoo (CHRIS ACKERMAN) and Kinkou (EDSON T. RIBEIRO) -- set out to find the Millers and get their hands on that treasure. From that point on, Elektra uses her every resource to battle the supernaturally enabled ninjas and protect the teen and her father.

    HOW OTHERS RATED THIS MOVIE

Curious if this title is entertaining, any good, and/or has any artistic merit?
Then read OUR TAKE of this film.

(Note: The "Our Take" review of this title examines the film's artistic merits and does not take into account any of the possibly objectionable material listed below).

    OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
Here's a brief summary of the content found in this action-adventure flick that's been rated PG-13. Profanity consists of at least 4 "s" words, while a few other expletives and colorful phrases are also uttered. Some brief, sexually related dialogue occurs, while some women are seen in somewhat revealing attire in a few scenes, a man and woman briefly kiss, and a deadly woman plants a long kiss on another woman (the intent is violence, but it's somewhat played in a titillating girl-on-girl fashion).

Violence consists of all sorts of fight scenes where people punch, kick or otherwise strike others, sometimes with weapons that result in various deaths (mostly of supernatural beings that dissolve away into a flash of light). There's very little related blood, but some of that material and other scenes may be unsettling or suspenseful to some viewers, and some of that action, fighting and other stunts may be enticing for some kids to imitate.

Various characters have varying degrees of bad attitudes, including the heroine who is initially a hired assassin known for the high body counts surrounding her work. There's brief drinking as well as some flashback material regarding a girl discovering her recently murdered mother (while a current girl's mother is also noted as having been murdered in the past).

If you're still concerned about the film and its appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home who may be interested in seeing it, we suggest that you take a closer look at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

For those prone to visually induced motion sickness, some of the rapidly moving shots and related editing may induce such feelings.

He then goes out to investigate and tries to hit Elektra, but she blocks his punch and then delivers punches and kicks to him. As she prepares to kill her target (who's seated and facing away from her), we see him preparing a handgun to use on her, but she then throws her large dagger through both the back of the chair and him (no blood).
  • We see flashback footage of Elektra hitting training opponents quite hard with a martial arts pole.

The other assassin then throws various small blades at the three inside the house. • Spirit type wolves attack Mark and Abby, with one of the minions then kicking and hitting Mark. Abby, however, flips over that minion with some sort of magical necklace/chain, with Elektra then throwing a dagger into him (he dissolves in a green flash of light). Abby then uses that chain to strike one of the spirit wolves, cutting it in half (it also dissolves in a green flash of light).
