QUICK TAKE:
Comedy: Hoping to make amends with his female German Internet friend that he thought was a guy, a high school graduate travels throughout Europe with his friends in hopes of finding and apologizing to her.
PLOT:
Scotty Thomas (SCOTT MECHLOWICZ) has just graduated from high school only to have his girlfriend suddenly dump him. He finds support from friends Cooper (JACOB PITTS) and twins Jenny (MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG) and Jamie (TRAVIS WESTER) and still enjoys his regular correspondence with German Internet pal Mieke (JESSICA BOEHRS).

The only thing is that he doesn't know she's a girl, prompting a nasty, homophobic and drunken response from him when she offers to visit him in America. When his younger brother informs him of the error of his ways and he then discovers that Mieke has blocked all of his email, Scotty realizes he must travel to Europe to apologize in person.

Posing as couriers, Scotty and Cooper manage to fly into London, hoping they can then make it over to Germany. A serious of mishaps and encounters with a wild assortment of people, however, interrupts their trip. After meeting up with Jenny and Jamie in Paris, the foursome then sets out to find Mieke, all while pursuing their individual European goals.

WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
It's a good bet that many teens will want to see it.
WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R

  • JESSICA BOEHRS plays Scotty's German Internet pal who ends up having sex with him.

    HOW OTHERS RATED THIS MOVIE

Curious if this title is entertaining, any good, and/or has any artistic merit?
Then read OUR TAKE of this film.

(Note: The "Our Take" review of this title examines the film's artistic merits and does not take into account any of the possibly objectionable material listed below).

    OUR WORD TO PARENTS:
The following is a brief summary of the content found in this R-rated comedy. Profanity includes at least 22 "f" words, while other expletives and colorful phrases are used and a repeatedly sung song has sexual lyrics.

All sorts of sexually related dialogue occur along with other sexually related material and humor, including gay-related material and drunken siblings making out. Several sexual encounters are partially seen (and include oral sex, S&M material, male and female nudity, movement and related sounds). Mass male full frontal nudity occurs in several scenes at a nude beach, while topless women are seen in several scenes.

All sorts of characters drink, some to the point of intoxication and passing out, while there's a joke about drug-laced brownies (including hallucinations) that turns out not to be true. Some smoking is also present.

Several instances of crude humor occur, and various characters have varying degrees of bad attitudes, while some viewers might not like various bits of the film (Euro bashing, homophobia, defiling the Vatican, etc.) used for comedy. Various bits of imitative behavior are present, while some brief fighting and other violent contact occur.

Should you still be concerned about the film's appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home, you may want to look more closely at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

For those concerned with bright flashes of light on the screen, there are some instances of that in a scene set in a nightclub.

    ALCOHOL OR DRUG USE
  • An animated bit during the opening credits shows kegs being brought onto a plane.
  • We see a great deal of drinking at a party (including a person held upside beneath a keg's tap), where Scotty, Cooper, Jamie and Jenny drink (the latter complains of her brother bringing her a gin and tonic).
  • Scotty is drunk and then has a hangover the next morning.
  • Miscellaneous people have drinks on a plane.
  • Cooper and Scotty are excited that there's no drinking age in Britain and then enter a pub where various soccer fanatics are drinking. We then see all of them drinking there and then in a bus. Cooper and Scotty wake up there (after apparently being drunk the night before) and Scotty says he's not going to drink again (a line he said earlier after another night of drinking).
  • The four friends have wine with dinner.
  • Scotty and Jenny end up in an Amsterdam bakery where a waiter says that the brownies are magical (making them and us think they contain hash or some other hallucinogen). The two then wolf down a great deal of brownies and then act as if they're high (with Jenny saying she has the munchies and Scotty starting to disrobe). We also see Scotty's distorted point of view, but the waiter then informs them that none of their brownies contain drugs.
  • A truck driver states that he's wired on many things, including schnapps. He then drinks from a bottle.
  • Jenny and some of the others drink.
  • Miscellaneous people have drinks.
  • The three guys drink Absinthe (called "The Green Fairy") and one hallucinates and sees such a character. Later, they and Jenny are drunk (she drinks the Absinthe straight from the bottle). Later, Cooper and Scotty do more drinking.
  • Jenny has champagne and a man talks about running off with her and having champagne and sangria.

  • We see some apparently alcohol-fueled passionate kissing at a party.
  • We see a guy in just his briefs who's been taped up onto a tree.
  • Scotty's ex-girlfriend joins a singer on stage who comments on her being a "sex puppet," passionately kisses her and then sings a song "Scotty doesn't know" that include lyrics that the singer and Scotty's girlfriend "do it in my van every Sunday," about her being on her knees and "behind you while I'm thrusting."
  • Cooper spots various young women in small bikinis in a hot tub. All but one briefly leaves, so he joins her (fully clothed). He then fools her into thinking she has something on her bikini top and tells her she should rub it to get it off (thus making her rub her covered breast, much to his pleasure). He continues with this, eventually convincing her to remove her bikini top (we see her bare breasts) and that she must continue to rub one of them (she does and obviously isn't too bright about what he's doing). Cooper then says he'll rub it for her, but others interrupt them before he gets the chance.
  • Thinking that Mieke is a guy, Scotty believes from an email that "This guy wants to have sex with me" and acts adversely. He then replies to her message, telling "him" to keep "his" hands "off my genitals."
  • A comment is made about "hook up with you."
  • It's implied that Scotty's ex-girlfriend was fooling around the night before (while drunk) with two guys.
  • Cooper jokes about Scotty being gay and that sometimes the other man is "the girl" and that sometimes Scotty is.
  • There's more talk of Scotty saying he told Mieke to keep "his" hands off Scotty's genitals. Cooper then jokes that that's the opposite of what Scotty now wants (after learning Mieke is an attractive girl).
  • Cooper talks about "crazy European sex" and that he's traveled there to broaden his sexual horizons. He then jokes about those who founded American fleeing Europe to get away from the "kinky European sex." He then adds something about his "erotic and challenging adventures."
  • Scotty has a dream that features Mieke (in lingerie that shows cleavage) telling another guy that she was going to give herself to Scotty. That guy then suggestively states that maybe she should give herself to someone else. She then gets up, he picks her up and then slides things off a table onto which he puts her.
  • A British man makes some sort of sexual talk (with lots of slang).
  • When Jamie states that nobody touches his new camera but him, Scotty jokes, "So, it's like your wiener."
  • The camera briefly pauses to pan up a young woman's legs and body in her short skirt.
  • Jamie states that Voltaire contracted syphilis just two blocks from where they're standing.

  • Cooper sings lyrics from the above "Scotty doesn't know" song about "Fionna and me do it in my van" and about her being on her knees.
  • A gay man repeatedly comes on to the guys in a train compartment (he squeezes between the two of them and then has his hand on Jamie's knee after going through a dark tunnel). After another tunnel, he's massaging Jamie's shoulders (as the lyrics "Looking for some hot stuff" plays on the soundtrack). After another tunnel, that man is smoking and his pants are off. The guys then push him out into the hallway where we see most of his bare butt as he bends over to pick up his pants and his underwear is bunched up (all of the above is played for homophobic laughs).
  • The three guys decide to visit a nude beach in Europe. Scotty asks what the etiquette is about "boners" and wonders whether one rolls over and digs a hole for it, or lets "my flag fly." The guys then count down to drop their shorts, but only Jamie does and Cooper jokes, "Ha-ha, look at Jamie's penis" (we don't see anything). All three then drop their shorts and we see their bare butts as they run toward the beach. To their horror, only nude men are there and they and we see a great deal of male full frontal and rear nudity. One of the guys comments on "there are so many penises" and that it's the "biggest sausage-fest on Earth." Jenny then shows up and the camera focuses on her body as she removes her clothes to reveal her in a small bikini. The guys then rush her away as the various nude men chase after them (we see more full views of bare penises and butts).
  • Meanwhile, we see a quick shot of the women's nude beach where all sort of bare-breasted women in small bikini bottoms are cavorting and hanging out, with one giving a back massage to another.
  • Scotty has another fantasy dream about Mieke being in lingerie, saying she's been saving herself for him and that they should make love for a whole month. Her top then comes off, we see her bare breasts (and her in small panties) and the two passionately kiss. When he awakens, Scotty discovers the above gay man caressing him and then licking his tongue up Scotty's face.
  • The group arrives in Amsterdam that's noted as the drug and sex capital of Europe. We see a moving neon sign that shows a couple having sex "doggie style," a bit about the Vandersexx sex club and a sign that reads "Porno market." Cooper then goes by himself to the sex club where he's greeted by various bare-breasted women who fawn over and caress him, while the leader says that his every fantasy will be fulfilled. That leader then says she feels sorry for Americans where you only have sex with one woman at a time and must know her name before having sex with her. Later, that female leader gives him a "safe word" to use in case the sexual ecstasy becomes too great for him (he doesn't think it will). His hands and feet are then cuffed and the rest of the women leave. The female leader and two men then appear in S&M type leather outfits. She tells them to get the testicle clamps and we see Cooper's bare butt after his pants are torn away. Moments later, we see her stand up from in front of his crotch (not seen) holding one of those small, clapping monkey toys. Cooper is then bent over and one of the men starts up a large, gasoline powered sexual contraption with several dildos on it. He then approaches Cooper's bare butt (that we see) with it. After later being freed, Cooper gingerly walks toward his friends.
  • Jamie visits a camera shop where the young woman inside tells him that she's going to take a smoke break and wonders if he'll join her. He states he doesn't smoke and she suggestively replies that she doesn't either. We then see them passionately making out in a back alley. She says that he's so innocent and that they should change that. She then kisses down his chest (and out of the camera shot) and we hear a zipper sound and see his pleasured reaction. A mugger then robs Jamie while the woman performs oral sex on him (not seen and the robber doesn't see her either). Jamie then enthusiastically says, "You dirty girl," making the robber think he's talking to him.
  • Scotty mentions to Jenny that he unknowingly watched (male) gay porn once and that the girls never came.
  • The sexual term "hooks up" is used.
  • A truck driver states that he stabbed a woman in a bar and sexually assaulted a horse.
  • The camera (representing Cooper's point of view) focuses on Jenny's cleavage in her low-cut dress.
  • A married man comes on to Jenny. She then asks if he goes around Europe sleeping with every woman he meets. He says no, that he sleeps with men too.
  • While drunk, Jamie and Jenny (who are siblings) passionately make out in a nightclub (played for laughs).
  • Mieke shows some cleavage.
  • A classic statute shows a bare breast.
  • Scotty and Mieke passionately make out in a confessional in the Vatican. We hear heavy breathing and related passionate sounds and see Mieke's bare breast as the two cavort (and apparently have sex there in torso and up shots). Moments later, and as a woman confesses that she cheated on her husband, we see a bare butt up (with rhythmic movement) against the mesh screen on the confessional.
  • Cooper complains that he's the only one not to "hook up" in Europe. Jenny then states that she also thought she'd have "crazy European sex." The two then look at each other. Later in a plane, she suggestively straddles his lap while crossing over him to go to the bathroom. He then gets up to join her and she yanks him into the bathroom (we hear him asking if this still counts as Europe).
  • Mieke announces that she and Scotty will now be college roommates and we see them fall onto the bed in the background of the shot.
  • An imaginary fairy asks, "When does the fairy get laid?"
  • Some dialogue states "She's under me and I'm not stopping."
  • During the outtakes, there are more lyrics from the above song about "behind you thrusting." In another bit, a guide talks about hiding valuables in anuses. We see more fooling around in the confessional and a comment is made about "use her like a humping post" (or something close to that). We see two bare-breasted women and then Jenny cooling herself off with a cold soda can while in her bra. We then see the above gay man spanking one of the guys and then another confessional shot (from the outside) that shows an upside-down bare butt against the screen mesh with rhythmic movement. We then see many views of male full frontal nudity (from the above nude beach scene).
  • SMOKING
  • Cooper smokes a cigar, while a miscellaneous man smokes.
  • An animated bit during the opening credits shows a flight attendant informing a passenger that there's no smoking, but then smokes herself.
  • A man smokes and then puts out the lit cigarette on his own arm.
  • We see an ashtray with used butts and a cigar in it.

  • A soccer fanatic purposefully breaks a glass to intimidate Cooper and Scotty.
  • Rapid soccer fans chase after an opposing fan with chains and bats (played for comedy).
  • Scotty tries to outdo a street performer who's doing the robot thing. The French performer pushes Scotty and the two get into a robot fight (with slow, mechanical movements) where they block punches and kicks from the other. Scotty then backhands the other who then slaps Scotty. Scotty then kicks this guy in the crotch.
  • A truck driver states that he stabbed a woman in a bar and sexually assaulted a horse.
  • A waiter slaps another when announcing that he's quitting.
  • After Cooper taunts him, Jamie jumps on him.
