QUICK TAKE:
A comedy concerning a baseball playing chimpanzee.
PLOT:
Jack Cooper (MATT LEBLANC) is a minor league baseball pitcher who has great talent but can't win any games. Suddenly thrust upon him as teammate and roommate is Ed, a chimp first assigned as a team mascot. They find out the chimp can play ball, so they suit him up and he helps them make it the championship game.
WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
Yes. The baseball playing chimp will be the draw as will Matt LeBlanc (Joey on "Friends").
WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: PG
For language, crude humor and brief mild violence.

  • A player says "we should kill Kirby" (a guy who has sold Ed) and the manager responds, "play a good game and I'll help you kill that SOB."
  • FRIGHTENING/TENSE SCENES
  • Ed almost freezes to death and is put into an ICU at hospital but ends up okay.
  • Cooper is almost hit by a truck while trying to save Ed.

  • IMITATIVE BEHAVIOR
  • Ed gives the universal sign for "kiss my ass."
  • Phrases: "Shut the hell up" and "your priorities suck."
  • A little girl says Cooper has a great butt, and also says the word "crap."
  • A little girl and Ed compete in making straw sucking sounds, armpit sounds, belching and making a mess out of her house with no parental supervision and then try to clean it up before her mother comes home.

  • Ed is kidnapped and sold to another team. Cooper and the neighbors are upset and yell a little about this. A mother tells Cooper to "steal Ed back."

  • Ed playfully smashes things in an apartment.
  • Some bad guys electrically shock Ed in his cage, then get into a fist fight with Cooper. They then threaten both Ed and Cooper with baseball bats. One of the guys is knocked out after being shoved up against a cage, Cooper then knocks out the other guy with a punch (all to rescue Ed).
