Comedy: A rag tag Navy crew is assigned to the command of an old submarine.
PLOT:
Tom Dodge (KELSEY GRAMMER) is assigned the command of an old diesel powered submarine to test the readiness of the present day nuclear fleet. Dodge must take his rusty boat, rag tag crew and get both in shape for this assignment. The stereotypical misfit crew comes together and Dodge uses his skill and tactics to outmaneuver the navy fleet and head for his make believe battle destination.
WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
Probably. It's aimed toward kids and if they like Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier") or Rob Schneider ("Saturday Night Live") they'll be drawn to it.
WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: PG-13
For some crude language.
CAST AS ROLE MODELS:
KELSEY GRAMMER plays the fun loving, hard partying commander assigned to an old submarine.
ROB SCHNEIDER plays the "everything by the books until it get obnoxious," second in command.
There is some slapstick violence (ie. the greasing of the floor and ladder causes an officer to slip and then slide down the ladder bumping his chin on every rung).
One officer is made to "walk the plank" but ends up falling into a nearby fishing boat.
A sailor is repeatedly shocked while working with electrical wiring -- this is played for laughs.
